16 miles of the National Appalachian Scenic Trail passes through southeastern Dutchess, and includes 4,000 acres of protected parkland with hiking, backpacking, snowshoeing, and cross-country skiing. 2 of these miles make up the Cat Rocks trail. This woodsy preserve spans 200 acres, and draws campers, fishers, picnickers and of course, hikers. A little over 2 miles, the trail culminates in a fire tower climb—which has a dramatic panoramic view. Few vantage points are better for Hudson Valley fall foliage, and for wide shots of the river.

Madam Brett Park

Taconic State Park – Rudd Pond Area, Millerton
Rudd Pond is located in the northeast part of Dutchess County just 2-miles north of Millerton on County Route 62. This area is part of the larger Taconic State Park at Rudd Pond Area, with over 40 campsites and hot showers available to overnight guests.
